The Cynwyd Club's 1926-1927 inter-club champions

The Cynwyd Club has a long and proud history in tennis and squash. Many members trained with the legendary Norm Bramall who was with the Club from 1922 until 1984.

Our most prominent tennis champions include Vic Seixas, who won the Wimbledon singles title in 1953 and the U. S. Open singles title in 1954, and Newt Meade, who has won numerous age group national and international events. Bill Tilden, the world’s top tennis player of the 1920s, often played at The Cynwyd Club during his prime.

Our most accomplished squash champions include multiple winners, including Edith Beatty, Cecile “Babe” Bowles, Joyce Davenport, Amy Gross, Maurice Heckscher, Demer Holleran, Barbara Maltby, Connie Pierce, Michael Pierce, Peter Pierce, Gail Ramsay, Jane Austin Stauffer, Carol Thesieres, Margaret Varner, and Ann Wetzel.
